| My interview panel may have looked like this a few times when I verbally vomited my experience on them, oops! |
This momma is exhausted and ubber ubber happy! I received my intern substitute permit so I can get paid now when my host teacher is out and I made it through my first teaching interview alive! The best part of the week though was getting positive feedback on my interview and knowing I didn't totally flop! Whew!
On the teaching side of things, we had a great week! Our "how to" bubble gum writing is super cute. The kids did fabulous using transition words and were making connections to other texts with them all week. Plus it was so exciting watching kids blow a bubble for the first time. Almost as good as a babies first step...OK I might be exaggerating. I was shocked though when 1 of my little sweeties told me they hadn't had gum and another one had it only once, years ago. By the end of the week they were not swallowing it and I was happy with this progress:)
We also started our "Place Value Boot Camp" and the kids were thrilled to see me as Sergeant Headland and totally want my combat vest (thanks Brandon Hanzal for that one). My theme for this was inspired by the ever hilarious, Mr. Smith, of teachertipster.com and his place value army chant. My kiddos can't wait to earn their badges of honor. I'm still working out what that will look like but when I'm done I'll post a freebie for ya'll.
Next week, we'll be starting our "Forces and Motion" unit and I'm wondering if any of you in blogger land have some wonderful ideas on sprucing up my oh so boring Foss kit fabulously engaging Foss kit. Please feel free to pass those along. I'd appreciate it very much.
Happy Teaching,
