Linking up again with 4th Grade Frolics for a little "Wow, wasn't I productive! Haha"
I've finally hit vacay mode after a quick trip to Oz with Thing #3! We had such a great and relaxing visit with my parents, prego sista & Mr. Power. I know, can't you just imagine the awesome first name possibilities here...I mean really William Power (Will Power) Maximus Power (Max Power) the Mr. has been working on names for the newbie parents. Since I was outta here, I only have one classroom project because I left my laptop at home! It's the only way to really get away and relax:)
1. So, everyone has been making these and I had to jump on the band wagon too! I mean really what girl doesn't need her own tool box storage unit and table top paper organizer. Let's face it papers are the bane of a teacher's existence and I have to admit my desk was a catch all for them last year. I don't have pics of the toolbox because it's at school sorry, but I'm loving that it cleaned out half of my desk!
I stayed with the gray chevron and added a bit of Wonderland flair along with KG Payphone font. I don't really have a theme in my room but I love Alice and Wonderland so I added the clip art (sorry can't find the original source) to match my bathroom passes and plan book.
2. Thing #2 has an obsession with cinnamon rolls and sweets. When I was cruising Pinterest <3 I found a recipe from, Chief in Training, that I just had to try for him. Birthday Cake Cinnamon Rolls Plus, it was a good "I'm sorry" for him staying at home with dad while we had fun in Oz.
Warning these rolls are not for the calorie continuous!
So have you ever heard of "foaming" your yeast? I hadn't but let me tell you, I'll probably never prep my yeast the same way again and man was it simple! All you had to do was add a tsp of sugar to the warm water and yeast and let it sit and foam for 10 minutes before moving on with the recipe. This cut the rest of the rise times in half and the rolls turn out wonderfully fluffy.
The end result was some super sweet and gooey rolls the boys loved and are begging for more of!

Moving on to things I wish that I'd made but will hunt for recipes or go the lazy route and buy!
1. The Donut Whole in Wichita (aka their version of Voodoo Donuts):
Breaking Bad, Blood Orange with Citrus Glaze, and Anise
Before or after you hit up this place head across the street to Tanya's Soup Kitchen for some delicious adult food:)

2. Sonic Cherry Limeade...what more can you say about that! Fanastico
3. Doo Dah Diner's gluten free banana bread french toast, simply sinful with pecans and apples!
4. It was a good thing we hit Coco Dolche on the way out of town or it could have been disastrous on the waste line! Let's just say chocolate cocktails in a box and Lemoncello. It was incredible!
If you are in the Wichita, Oz area I highly recommend trying to find these items yourself.
I should have a few more classroom items next week. The Mr. is braving a trip to IKEA with me this afternoon, hehe little does he know it could be more than an entertainment stand. REALLY, what teacher doesn't leave that place with things for the classroom?
Enjoy your Monday,
Mrs. Headland
