As I said the boys wanted to race and I'm proud of all them too. Jacob took 2nd in the 11-14 year-old division and 13th overall, Ty took 10th in his division and 32nd overall (he found out stopping to upchuck really slows you down, poor guy) and Riley took 11th in his age group. The highlight for Riley was probably seeing the Mallory kids and gutter ball though. We can't wait to be back at Gilead again soon, because that means it is summer camp time.
In the classroom, we've been working on Mo Willems reader theaters and got to preform them for the kindies who came to check out the first grade classrooms! My kids are loving this! I only wish we had time to do more. With 8 days left it will be a push. I love how their character headbands turned out though. Too cute! I'll post some better pictures next week. I forgot to snap a few during show. I'll get one of each group.
I also had the privilege to be on the interview team for our new principal. This was an incredible experience and I'm very honored to be chosen for this after only a year at Cathcart. I however would never, let me repeat that, NEVER want to be on the side of the principal candidates. They are pretty incredible for just getting through the grilling by our team. I do feel more pressure about the whole process as we continue to wait for the rest of it to finish up but I know and trust our district leadership to do what will be best for Cathcart.
In addition to all that, I had my final observation and lets just say it's not great to be observed the morning after a substitute has been in the room. I'm saying just for the fact you don't have the time to figure out what actually went on and if they are ready for the next lessons you have planned. It's all a learning experience though isn't it and I'll have a lot to reflect on. YIKES! But I do love the fluency strategies we're working on now. You can check them out at Danielle Mahoney's blog.
Oh wait, I forgot the best part...
My phone had a very bad week it was dropped in the toilet twice. Yes twice! Back pockets are a bad thing for me I guess. Then after a great rice treatment I dropped it again after the 5K and the screen shattered. Amazingly everything still works and the Mr. put a new screen cover on to hold in the glass. I'm going to just have to be thankful for what I have and praise God it works because I'd be lost without it. Needless to say my phone is no longer going in my pants pocket, maybe not even my hand!
It's time to go and spend some time with my kiddos. Have a great weekend and happy teaching!
Only 8 days left!
Mrs. Headland
